Dōngzhì Festival

I wanna wish all my dear friends and family everywhere in the world a Happy Winter Solstice. Was lucky that I'm currently in holiday otherwise i will miss the chance to celebrate this meaningful festival with my beloved family.

As usual, my family would eat tangyuan during Dongzhi Festival. For those who don't know, Tang yuan is a Chinese dessert made from glutinous rice flour. Duh!..who don't know! Traditionally, the Dongzhi Festival is a time for the family to get together. One activity that occurs during these get togethers is the making and eating of Tangyuan, symbolizing family unity and prosperity.

I love this festival because I get to get my hands all dirty because we get to make tangyuan. I find it funny that we celebrate it in Malaysia even though there is no winter here. However, since we're chinese, celebrating this festival is a must. I pity my hubby cuz he couldn't celebrate with his family because he need to work...worst thing is he couldn't eat his mom home made tang yuan. Was thinking of delivering some of my homemade tang yuan to him..wuwuwu..

Usually, people make unfilled pink and white tang yuan with the normal rock sugar and pandan leaves flavour syrup. But mine is different, our family loves colourful tang yuan filled with peanut butter and ginger, sweet potato, as well as pandan leaves and gula melacca flavour syrup.

simply delicious..yummy!

Our Dinner

Steam Chicken

Corns from Cameron Highlands

Simple and healthy dinner cooked by our beloved chef, mummy! Vegetables and the corns were bought by my sis at Cameron highlands.

Our dinner is simple cuz we wanna enjoy more of our tang yuan.

 Happy Winter Solstice!

Melaka Family Trip

This gonna be a long long post.

My dad organized a 2 days 1 night family trip to Melacca on 27th November. My hubby, Kelvin was able to join us for the trip. Thanks to dad..I’m really happy that my family treated Kelvin as a part of the family now.

I was so excited on the day before. I drove to Kelvin’s office at PJ on my own to fetch him back to my home for the trip tomorrow. Waited for him to finish his work for hours. Though I have nothing to do, but it was still pretty enjoyable because I’m able to see my hubby’s serious working face. I’m sitting far away from where he sits but I still able to hear his sexy voice, my hubby spoke very loud. He was so cute!! Haha..

The next day, we started our journey in the morning at around 9am. When we arrived, we went straight to our apartment for check in. The apartment was like…omg…are you sure we’re goin’ to stay here?..It looks so.so..erm..so “nice” . It is a very old shop house..look so dirty, fugly and uncomfortable from outside. My dad was like “Okay”, let’s have a look at the interior before we decide to find other place to stay. So we went up to have a look at the interior and damn, it was like hell outside but like heaven inside. The house was awesomely better than we thought.

Photo we take in da car on our way to Melacca

My sista

Do i look like malay?

The interior is modern, tidy and clean. It has 3 rooms and 3 toilets, a master bedroom with a queen size bed and a toilet, one room with 1 double decker bed and another room with queen size bed. All rooms has a very very big mirror.( I can’t live without mirror!..so awesome!). It also has a small living room, dining room and a kitchen. The house is fully furniture, all kitchen utensils are provided, have washing machine, aircond, comfortable bed..all are new and well maintained. Surprisely, it was only RM 200 per night. RM 200 for such a nice place in peak season…it cannot be…must be haunted!..haha…but we have a great stay and so far never see a ghost in there.

Too high and excited! haha..

After we dropped our luggage, we headed out for a walk at Jonker Street. First, we found a place to fill our empty stomach at Jonker Dessert Restaurant. I ordered nyonya curry chicken mee and their famous and a must-to-eat nyonya durian cendol. So damn delicious!!!!! My saliva is drooling right now. Really love nyonya food..

A very traditional baba nyonya restaurant.

    Yummy..yummy..keep eating..cannot stop!

My nyonya curry chicken mee.

Nyonya durian cendol..a must to eat in melacca!

Sis with her..ermm...boyfriend..hehe..

.

After having our lunch, we continued our sightseeing. But we only walked for awhile and it started to rain. I love rain but only the Korean pop sensation "Rain" la not the real rain. Really hate raining season during holidays! We stopped at a Peranakan shop that sell nyonya beaded shoes to wait for rain to stop. And guess what, one shoes around cost RM 200++ though it is not branded. But somewhat it is not surprising at all, it makes sense since all shoes are handmade and it takes about 2 years to complete a shoe(this is what they said). It is so difficult to make as they have to sew each small tiny bead one by one onto the shoe to make a beautiful design, only professionals can do it. Since it is sooooooo damn expensive, we didn't buy anything from there, just standing outside the shop and wait for rain to stop. So pity! haha...but we managed to have fun by playing around and taking photos.

She is hella funny!

Artistic photo taken by my sis.

I personally really enjoy taking photos in Melacca. All photos are beautiful because of the beautiful and historical scenery and background. Especially loving the old historical building in Melacca, really artistic. I really recommend those who love photography to visit Melacca and take some nice photo out there.

We did not do much of sight seeing because of the rain. We went back home straight to rest and take photos..haha...didn't have much rest actually, we still continue taking photos all the time. Till when it's about time for dinner, we started preparing ourself..so excited when talking about food!..everyone busy getting ready for the FOOD!!!!..yummy!.tee hee~~

Before we go for dinner, we stopped by at Melacca Island, an artificial small island somewhere near the place Eye on Malaysia was located. Nothing to see there, just beautiful and breathtaking scenery of the sea. Dad drove around the island, it was kind of eerie because there's no one in the island, only empty shop buildings. I think the island had been abandoned by people for a long time and we just don't know why. So wasted, the government are wasting tax payer money to build artificial island and creating more and more lands from the sea in Melacca. What's wrong with the sea? There are many flat lands in Melacca, many parts of Melacca are not developed yet. The previous artificial island project was a huge failure, do they learn from mistake?

Scenery of the artificial island from the bridge

Anyway, we love the scenery here...

And now introducing the FOOD!!

We went to a typical Nyonya Cuisine Restaurant called "Ole Sayang" for dinner. Yes, again Nyonya Food! WE LOVE NYONYA FOOD! Maybe because my dad is half baba..haha..We ordered:

Chap Chae (the mix vegetable)

A must to eat, Chicken Pong Teh. ( fermented bean chicken). This is my fav dish among all nyonya food. Extremely delicious!! Please go eat..you will love it!

Kangkung belacan

Sambal Sotong

Telur Cincalok

Yummy..yummy!

Finished!...nothing left..

After dinner, for the nite activity, we went to Jonker street again. But Jonker Street is completely different at nite. The road was closed for Pasar Malam. The street was crowded with humans with all type of size, shapes and colours..hahahaha....Anyway lots of things to buy there, but i only bought 3 pairs of flower earings (cute earings) for RM 10. I bought for my sweet and lovely housemates (Wei ling, Valerie and Su wen) but it doesn't suit Su wen's short hair so I keep it for my own. Sorry Su Wen! Regret for not buying more things..I kept my pocket too tight that nite, not willing to use much because I spend too much for the month.

fried hot dog.

A lot of uncles and aunties sitting here enjoying karaoke. There was a big stage in front for people to sing. There is a thing there blocking the stage, so you can't see. I'm not sure whether they are professional singers or volunteer singers cuz some sings cuz some sing pretty well but some voice are crooked. But really happy to see those uncles and aunties happily enjoy da show .They were not bothered with the crooked voice.

I was not with my family so unable to take much of photos that nite. I accompanied my hubby. He was busy searching for souvenir for his buddies. He bought lighters with very cool graphics for his friends.( his frens all smoking but not him ya!). As I'm not with my family, so I missed an opportunity to go visit a nyonya hotel called 'Hotel Puri'...wuwuwu.. U can see this hotel in the famous Singapore Drama 'Little Nyonya'. It was one of the shooting place for the drama.

This hotel is the only hotel which has bird nest in it. So cool! The nests are real for sure, there are swallows in it.

Little Nyonya cast..hehe..

kakaka..so hilarious..

Day 2

The next day, we woke up early in the morning to have our breakfast. We had our breakfast at a small wantan mee restaurant but i dislike the mee, too plain. Unlike the wantan mee in KL, this mee here in Melaka is not served with black sause, da mee is still white, a bit of taste, not sure what sause they put (like those hakka mee) and some chilli sause. Anyway, really disappointed with our breakfast, should have go eat Melaka famous Chicken rice ball.

Make up-ing...tee hee~~

At wan tan mee restaurant

After such a lame breakfast, we went to a temple(forgot what its name). This temple has 600++ history but it is still beautiful and well-maintained. Go to temple, of course pray la...god! hope my hubby and I will be together forever!..Plz god, plz bless me to have flying colours result for my final!

To be continue..more picture will be added..I go zzzZZZZzz..
